Inauguration ceremony for AU Conference Centre
On January 28th 2012, the leadership of our company including the Chairman Wang Guangyou, Vice-chairman Wang Zhijie, Board member Vice Manager Yan Jun and the project supervision group attended the inauguration ceremony for China-aid AU Conference Centre. The Chairman of the National Committee of CPPCC attended the ceremony and gave a speech, the leaders of 54 member states who have attended the 18th AU Summit also attended the ceremony.
Before the ceremony start, the Chairman Jia Qinglin took photos with the constructors, the chairman of our company Wang Guangyou and the Supervision Team leader Gongjing was invited to attend the ceremony.

Chairman Jia noted that “today is a milestone in the history of China – Africa. The completion of the AU Conference Center is another precious gift that Chinese gave to Africa, also it is a symbol and microcosm of the new century development of the relationship between China and Africa. The new AU Conference Center is embodies the sweat and wisdom of all the constructors, we’d like to express our sincerely respect and honorable thanks to all the constructors. ” AU Commission Chairman Jean Ping and AU rotating President and President of Equatorial Guinea Obiang Nguema Mbasogo expressed their appreciations and gratitude to the Chinese government and the Chinese builders for the construction of this proud and invaluable Conference Center.
The AU Conference Center project is one of the eight measures of the Chinese government to strengthen cooperation with Africa announced by President Hu at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2006. It is the largest project in Africa built with Chinese assistance after the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. The Center covers 110,000 square meters of land area and 52,000 square meters of construction area. It is composed of the office building, conference halls of all sizes and ancillary facilities.
The leader of all levels paid a highly attention to the project, WU Bangguo the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress has attended the opening ceremony and announced the start of the project. During construction the leaders of Commerce Department, Foreign Ministry, National Development and Reform Commission and the leaders of the African Union Commission have been to the site for inspection for many times. This project has enjoyed high reputation by its elegant appearance, high quality and unbelievable speed. We are honored have the chance participated in the construction, with the project completed it’s become a milestone for foreign aid project of our company.
